I work with clients all the time who tell me:
โ€œI want to start a business.โ€
โ€œI want to write a book.โ€
โ€œI want to change my life.โ€

And then I ask, โ€œWhat steps have you taken?โ€
Silence.

Because hereโ€™s the truth.
Theyโ€™re too busy climbing the corporate ladder, chasing promotions, or just surviving the day-to-day.

I did the same for years.
Promotions. Titles. Pay rises.
Until I realised none of it was my definition of success.

None of that is wrong.
If your dream is to be a VP or CEO, then keep going. That path makes sense.

But if you tell me that is not what you want, then why are you following the default path?

Itโ€™s simple. You havenโ€™t defined what success means for you.

So you follow what your parents expected.
What your friends are doing.
What society told you looks good.

But once you define success for yourself, everything changes.
โ†’ Maybe itโ€™s building a business you can run from anywhere in the world.
โ†’ Maybe itโ€™s being home to spend more time with your kids.
โ†’ Maybe itโ€™s creating a life that feels deeply fulfilling, where your work, health, and relationships all support each other.

When youโ€™re clear on what success is for you, your decisions get easier.
What to say yes to becomes clear.
What to stop doing becomes obvious.

Because anything that takes you away from your definition of success isnโ€™t opportunity.
Itโ€™s a distraction.
